What is it?
Most people like music, but Grado PS500e headphones are too good for most people. We make them for music connoisseurs. For the ones who anticipate Amy Winehouse’s breath between lyrics. For the ones who absolutely need to place the second violin with their eyes closed. If you get chills from a Cuban trombone solo, we need to talk.
The PS500e is the younger brother to the PS1000e, with newly redesigned 44mm speaker and the improved 8 conductor cable design and a smaller metal and wood hybrid air chamber. Both the hidden mahogany core and powder-coated aluminum housing parts under-go damping treatments that help control and dissipate resonances, for an undistorted flow of the musical signal. The PS500e boasts an overall sound that is pure Grado, with warm harmonic colors, rich full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics, and an ultra-smooth top end. The PS500e is a compact monitoring tool that will put a smile on the face of the most demanding music professionals, as well as the most demanding audiophiles.
How does it work?
Grado’s PS500e Professional Series headphones give you a heaping helping of audiophile bliss at a price well below their flagship model. The PS500e headphones feature updates to Grado’s previous PS500 headphones, including an improved driver design, better acoustic damping, and a new cable. The PS500e deliver jaw-dropping dynamics and detail, with a price and form factor that’s smaller than Grado’s top-of-the-line PS1000e.
The PS500e Headphones from Grado feature 44mm drivers that provide a 14 Hz to 29 kHz frequency response. The headphones are designed for accurate reproduction across the frequency spectrum, and feature an 8-conductor cable and a hidden mahogany core. A 1/4″ adapter is included.
Each set of PS500e headphones is hand-crafted by Grado Labs in Brooklyn, New York. Its outer earcup housings are made of metal alloy, then fitted with an inner sleeve of specially cured mahogany wood. This combination of proprietary materials creates an air chamber that resists unwanted vibration, to ensure your sound remains unaffected by coloration and distortion. Like all Grado headphones, the PS500e uses a vented “open-air” earcup design with large, non-resonant air chambers for powerful, extended bass response and more open, spacious sound. The headphone’s wide frequency range ensures you’ll hear all of your music. Another nice touch is the genuine leather headband, which you can adjust for a custom fit.
These impressive ‘phones work with the headphone outputs on most home audio systems, but to really hear them in all their glory we strongly recommend a headphone amplifier.
